Major Changes to MathewDay.com are Coming!

By MD On April 21, 2011 1 Comment

I originally started this blog when I first got into internet marketing to be like a journal, a place for me to write down my online experiences and things I learned along the way about making money online. But I had an epiphany the other day while I was on a long road trip to help a family member move.

This blog is getting boring and so unoriginal.

To succeed online with a blog, you need to be unique and offer something that is beneficial yet different than all the other similar blogs. I am a very unique person and truly like helping people live a more happy and productive life, constantly learning new things, and trying to improve myself for the better on a daily basis.

So I thought to myself, why not make my blog, Mathewday.com that already has my own personal domain name into a blog that is filled with this type of content.

The internet is made up of, and mostly used for -information. I want to make this blog into a great vast source of information that contains helpful links leading to reliable sources.

This blog will start containing content that might make you think, learn, improve your life, laugh, stay hip and current, save and make money and everything else in-between. I’ll be excepting high quality and original Guest Posts that are either helpful (tips, tutorials, etc), entertaining, latest buzz or just sharing your own personal experiences.

-There are many good personal development and productivity blogs out there, but I believe I also have something beneficial to add.

I was born in Seoul Korea and later adopted to the states. I have gone from being one of the youngest DM’s for a top fortune 500 company to living on the streets. Have battled many demons in my life and yet always try to improve and grow from my experiences.

Living healthy and fit is now just a part of me, but wasn’t always. I have an insatiable hunger for knowledge and for trying new things. But my passion has always been business and becoming a successful entrepreneur.

I am no better than anyone else in this world and still have MUCH to learn and experience. But hopefully, some of the things I’ve learned and gone through will be interesting and helpful to you and visa versa.

To my loyal subscribers and readers, I thank you so much for supporting me and following me.

-If you want more transparent tips and tutorials about making money online, then I’ll be continuing these type of posts in my 2 other domains, Copyproblogger.com and earn-extra-money-online.net. I’ll soon be adding much more in depth content on these sites about making money online and blogging. I believe these domains are much more suitable for these niches.

I think I was just a little apprehensive and quite frankly, maybe even a little scared about putting myself out there like this. I was afraid of how people would take take it if they got to know the real me. But being transparent and taking a chance is the only way to grow and genuinely connect with people.

This is our time. Life is to short to hold back. Live life with no regrets and put yourself out there and be transparent with who you are and what you’re true intentions are. I challenge you to take a risk or chance on something you believe in or have wanted to do or change. NO fear!

HUGE Decrease in Google Search Results with Updated Google Keyword Tool

By MD On January 3, 2011 No Comments

Have you noticed a huge decrease in search results per month with Google’s free keyword tool for many keywords? I sure have. For those who may not know, the Google keyword tool had just changed to a new version. It was in beta so you could still use the old version of the keyword tool, and that’s what I used until they changed to the new version permanently.

I had noticed there was a huge difference between monthly search results for the same keywords for the old and new versions of the Google Keyword tool before. But I figured it was a glitch of some kind since the new interface was still in beta. Now since it’s permanent, I did some searching for the same keywords and still saw a major decrease in searches per month for my keywords. A sense of panic came over me, and I thought I better start looking for a new source of money traffic.

A good example is “make money online“, that keyword phrase use to get a couple million searches per month according to the older version of Google keyword tool. And the new version of the keyword tool now says that search term only gets a few 100,000 searches per month. It made me think it may not even really be worth the time and effort to land on the front page for that keyword phrase anymore. And the niche, making money online is rapidly decreasing. I may have to go beg for my old job back real soon!

But I did some researching and found this very interesting read from Google support, bizzarre results between keyword tool beta and previous interface.

This is from a Google employee in their support forum. Just click the image to enlarge.

I had gotten a little relief from reading that, and it made total sense. Also you need to keep in consideration other search engines, such as Bing are becoming more popular, and the seasonal changes play a factor too. I don’t solely rely on just the keyword tool from Google. But I do rely on it quite a bit, especially for some Adwords campaigns.

If you noticed huge decreases in search results for keywords in the new interface of the Google Keyword tool from the old interface, then things are probably about the same. But this did make me think about being more attentive with this type of crucial information, and internet marketers need to always be evolving and be ready to adapt for whatever happens online. What do you think about the new interface of the Google keyword tool?

How to Get the Best Deals Shopping Online

By MD On December 22, 2010 1 Comment

One thing I’ve learned from my mom was to always look for the best deal, and pay the least amount for any purchase. Money can be tight for anyone once in awhile, especially near the holidays. So I wanted to share a tip to anyone who may not already know on how to rarely pay full price for anything online.

When you’re shopping online and you’re typing in a search into you’re Google toolbar, or maybe you use something different like Yahoo, Bing or etc. Type in whatever you’re looking for, and add the words (only one at a time) discount, promo code, coupon code, sale or any other related words, and then do a search. Many times, companies don’t advertise all of their sales and discounts right on their homepage, or blatantly promote their sales.

If you do your searches like this, then you should find special deals all the time. I already had mentioned, I rarely ever pay full price for anything online. It doesn’t matter if I’m looking for internet marketing products/software or shopping for a tuba, you can usually always find a lower price.

Here’s a perfect example.

I just purchased some domains, (websites make great Christmas gifts) and even though rumors have been going around that domain names have increased in price, I did a search with these words, cheapest domain registration. Of course, using the Google search toolbar. Guess what popped up? A special domain deal from Godaddy, a very reliable and legit company. I found a special offer on domains that most people don’t even know about and was able to get all of the domain names for less than $6 for each one. I normally pay at least $15 for my domains. So I was pleasantly surprised.

The special I had found for Go Daddy might be time sensitive, limited number or etc.. So it might not be available if you’re looking for it.

It’s really that easy, just type in related words for a discount with whatever you’re searching for and many times you’ll find a sale. I know this is probably old news to many internet marketers/bloggers because we know the ropes of how things work online. But, hopefully this tip will help any others to save a few bucks whenever you’re shopping online.

Take a Break

By MD On October 26, 2010 2 Comments

It’s very common to push your mind and body to exhaustion, especially for new internet marketers and bloggers. I know, I use to live by that motto. Not just with internet marketing, but also with past jobs. It’s kinda the type of person I am. I try giving 110% to everything I do, whether it’s when I’m trying to make money on the internet, or even when I’m playing a video game.

Relax

It’s good to be a go-getter, ambitious and relentless. If you want to be successful online, you’re going to have to be willing to put in work and effort where others would’ve givin-up or called it a day. It’s no joke, the internet marketing world is competitive as ever and will probably only continue to become more so as time goes on.

I use to think this was the way to go and the right attitude to have. But after I’ve been doing this internet marketing thing for awhile, I’ve evolved and learned this isn’t always the case. You might get away with overworking yourself online for awhile, but long term, you’re only going to be doing yourself more harm than good.

Over working yourself and not getting adequate rest can lead to…

Simple errors, discouragement, poor quality work, writers block and etc. are common results of overworking yourself and not getting adequate rest.

I’ve learned, especially for this type of work, internet marketing and blogging. That a fresh mind can be more creative, detailed oriented, efficient, produce better content, and able to stay focused much better.

Have you ever forced yourself to write a blog post, finish a website, or write another article even when you were beat? But then you did finish it and it took you much longer than it regularly does. Or maybe, even the quality of it was so poor that you had to redo it anyways. Doesn’t really make much sense if you think about it.

I’m not saying to put making money online and internet marketing on the back-burner, or even to lay in bed all day if you’re tired.

Like for me, if I didn’t get much sleep that night. Instead of forcing myself to put in my 10 or so hours straight, I’ll maybe work a few hours and then take a couple hour cat nap. I wake up refreshed, brain juices flowing and I’m ready to get back into it. I’m much more productive and efficient.

Or, I’m feeling burned out and not up to par (maybe did a little to much partying night prior) I’m not going to force myself to write a pillar 2,000 word blog post. I’ll do something more like work on the design of one of my sites, seo, or networking.

Don’t force yourself to work endless hours on the computer just because you think you have to. Take a quick nap, break, or get your mind off of what you’re doing for a little while. Go spend time with family or friends, workout, jog, play video games, or etc. At least for me, I’ve found taking a break when you need one from the computer, produces much better results and makes me a better internet marketer.

Become a Millionaire in a Short Amount of Time, Online

By MD On October 22, 2010 No Comments

It doesn’t really matter who you are, how much experience or time you spend online, if you’re reading this post, then I’m sure you’ve heard at least a few stories about how someone made millions online. I love business and learning ways to make the most profit from the least amount of capital and effort. I had finally realized that the internet is the place to be for people like you and me to make money.

I talk about it all the time, how the internet has helped to create so many practically overnight billionaires, millionaires, and many people who make a great income online from all walks of life. If you want a chance to make good money or even become the next overnight millionaire in a relatively short amount of time, then the internet is the best place to do that (I guess there’s always the lotto).

million%20dollar%20bill

So it was a “real shocker” to see this excellent article, How to be a Millionaire by age 25. That pretty much helps support what I was saying above about the internet is the place to be currently to make some nice money in a short amount of time.

In the article they have 9 young entrepreneurs that became millionaires before the age of 25, most of them became millionaires at a much younger age. OK, so I’ll get to the point. Did you notice practically all of them made their money online or their company has to do with the internet in some way? Some of them made a ton of money by creating simpler websites while they were still in high school. Yeah they were all young, but more importantly they made a great deal of money and became successful in a short amount of time.

Why are there so many youngsters who are becoming millionaires online?

I think it’s because, obviously, the #1 reason, they can take more chances and risks, but the smart ones see and come up with ideas that they believe would be cool, popular or beneficial to others. Their minds are really good for coming up with fresh new ideas for the current time or the future.

While the more mature age group, many of them don’t know or see the potential of what the internet brings and how they could utilize it to their benefit, especially for making money from home on their computer. However, in my opinion, the more mature age group has more experience in life, more things to leverage, and could easily come up with good ideas and sites that could be beneficial to others online. I’ve seen many young and old who make a lot of money online, so age doesn’t really matter. You gotta just be open minded and follow through on your visions.

If you don’t want to take the risks, then to make money on the internet you don’t really have to. Start off part time, work whenever you have any extra time and only invest a little money, or start off using only free methods. Of course, money can help you get started and get you ahead of your competition a lot faster in the online world.

No matter your age, capital, experience that you may or may not have, the internet is a great resource and tool for you to make an unlimited amount of money from your home. Many of the big and successful websites come from just a simple idea, then they turn it into a site that would add value in someway to somebody else. If you have a desire and vision about the next .com or website, then “go for it”, and get it created.

How’s Your Site looking in Different Browsers?

By MD On September 23, 2010 1 Comment

Just the other day I was checking out my sites in different browsers. It’s something I occasionally do whenever I remember to. (rarely) I noticed a few of them, the site looks different in Internet Explorer and some of my banners were all distorted. I am a Firefox user and pretty much never use any other web browser, so my sites always look fine to me. But that’s not always the case for others who are viewing your site or blog through a different browser. Websites usually aren’t compatible with all of them out there, and may not be functional or shown correctly.

You could be turning a lot of your visitors off, losing money, and not even know it. I’ve now learned it’s a good idea to at least make sure your site looks good in Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Safari. Since they are usually the more popular web browsers. Do this everytime you launch a new site or make any big changes to it.

I did some digging and found a totally free service, BrowserShots that will allow you to perform a web browser compatibility test so you know what everyone is seeing no matter what web browser they use.

Your site may look a little different in each browser, which is totally normal. But if it looks really bad, then you probably have a problem in your coding and you should have a designer check it out for you asap.

Facebook Movie that Defines the Decade, Will it be a Huge Hit?

By MD On September 15, 2010 No Comments

Think of the power you would have if you had 500 million friends. New movie that defines the decade, The Social Network will show us the viewpoints (a few alterations) from the 4 Co-founders of Facebook. Basically, this social network giant was really just an expansion from a simple idea that blew up into the worlds #1 social network site and into one of the most popular websites on the internet. 500millionfriends takes us to the beginning of how Facebook was launched from a dormitory room back in 2004 and created the youngest Billionaire on the planet, currently. Mark Zuckerberg Co-founder, CEO & president of Facebook net worth is 4 Billion at the age of 26.

It’s about time a big blockbuster has been made about one of the internet giants. I’ve been waiting for a movie like The Social Network to come out for awhile, really ever since I got into internet marketing and making money on the internet a couple years ago. There’s so many similar stories about huge companies getting launched from dorm rooms, basements etc.. like Amazon, eBay, Microsoft, Bodog, etc. This will be a great movie to inspire and motivate us internet marketers and webmasters. It probably will make others interested at the thought of getting rich just from launching a website too. I know a lot of people who make millions online, but Mark Zuckerberg takes the crown currently of Top Dog of the Internet. If you were to go by age, power and money. Sorry, Bill Gates.

The Social Network Movie will be officially released in theaters on October 1. Checkout the two videos below.

The Social Network TV trailer

The Social Network Movie trailer

I believe the movie will be epic and will do really well at the box office. 500 Million Friends Movie is current and appealing to just about everyone. It’s a great example of how many people today are using the internet to carryout their ideas and becoming practically overnight success stories. It’s pretty crazy if you think about how in a short amount of time social networking plays such a big part of our daily lives for all walks of life. All of the networking sites, apps, products, software, jobs, communication etc. Social networking is growing at the speed of light but I wonder how long it’s growth will continue and evolve in the future. It’s definitely the “in thing” for this decade, but what will be the next big thing?

All you need is an idea, internet connection and the possibilities are endless! Doesn’t matter you’re education or social status, you could launch the next big site from your own bedroom. Or, just settle to learn internet marketing and make extra money online from home, whenever you want to.
