4 Free Web Design Tools to Create Headers, Banners, Graphics, Logos
We all know how important appearances are, especially when it comes to the design of our websites, headers, banners and logos. Having a good unique look and design can help you attract more traffic and be much more successful online. I’m sure you’ve heard of photoshop before, one of the most popular and best graphic design software’s or tools out there. But can be quite complicated and costly. Hiring a professional graphics designer can be expensive too and can sometimes be difficult to find a good one. So I wanted to share some of my favorite free web design tools that you should checkout.
I had just recently written a post called, how to create a free logo for a website but wanted to expand on it and add my favorite FREE design tools to make your own headers, logos, web graphics and banners all in one post. Xheader – Probably my favorite tool and use it on a daily basis. Not only do I create professional headers for my niche sites in a matter of minutes using this tool, it’s also great for creating simple web graphics and logos too. It’s very quick and simple to use, yet produces some really great designs.
Gimp – This is the most complicated tool out of the list, but packs a big punch. Create much more complicated designs with this free graphics design tool. There tutorials are very helpful and pretty much will walk you step by step if you need any help. You’ll easily be able to design 3d images, textured backgrounds, altered images and many other web designs.
Grsites – This site makes it very easy to create textured backgrounds for your web sites and blogs. You can either create your own or use one of the pre-existing ones. Very simple to create your own logos and other simple graphics too.
DropShadowz – I like using this site to add those cool looking drop shadows to my images. The other tools can do the same thing, but this site just makes it much simpler.
All of the free web design softwares and tools above are easy to use and will allow you to create just about any type of web design you may need, no matter your skill level. You should now have the resources to create just about any web graphic, header, banner and logos whenever you want to. HUGE Decrease in Google Search Results with Updated Google Keyword Tool
Have you noticed a huge decrease in search results per month with Google’s free keyword tool for many keywords? I sure have. For those who may not know, the Google keyword tool had just changed to a new version. It was in beta so you could still use the old version of the keyword tool, and that’s what I used until they changed to the new version permanently.
I had noticed there was a huge difference between monthly search results for the same keywords for the old and new versions of the Google Keyword tool before. But I figured it was a glitch of some kind since the new interface was still in beta. Now since it’s permanent, I did some searching for the same keywords and still saw a major decrease in searches per month for my keywords. A sense of panic came over me, and I thought I better start looking for a new source of money traffic.
A good example is “make money online“, that keyword phrase use to get a couple million searches per month according to the older version of Google keyword tool. And the new version of the keyword tool now says that search term only gets a few 100,000 searches per month. It made me think it may not even really be worth the time and effort to land on the front page for that keyword phrase anymore. And the niche, making money online is rapidly decreasing. I may have to go beg for my old job back real soon!
But I did some researching and found this very interesting read from Google support, bizzarre results between keyword tool beta and previous interface.

I had gotten a little relief from reading that, and it made total sense. Also you need to keep in consideration other search engines, such as Bing are becoming more popular, and the seasonal changes play a factor too. I don’t solely rely on just the keyword tool from Google. But I do rely on it quite a bit, especially for some Adwords campaigns.
If you noticed huge decreases in search results for keywords in the new interface of the Google Keyword tool from the old interface, then things are probably about the same. But this did make me think about being more attentive with this type of crucial information, and internet marketers need to always be evolving and be ready to adapt for whatever happens online. Xheader is excellent for novice designers, and keeps things very quick and simple.
2. Gimp – Very powerful, especially for being free. Able to handle more complex designs. You will need to go over their manual and get some hands on experience using this great tool. Might be a little complex at first, but you can find plenty of tips and tutorials online for Gimp.
Either one of these tools should be adequate for creating a free logo for a website. However, you might want to check out this great article I found with several other free alternatives to Adobe photoshop.
You’ll be able to create, edit and design many different things on your own with any of these free graphic design tools. But if you need anything to complex or advanced, then nothing can take the place of a good designer or professional software.

New Article Submission Software – What Makes it Different?
I had just received an email the other day from Edwin Brian about his new product called Article Demon. How to Tell if a Backlink is Dofollow or Nofollow
When I first started getting into internet marketing, SEO and building backlinks, I had no idea if a link was dofollow or nofollow. I really didn’t know the difference between either one and just assumed every back-link was helping my site out.
I later learned that a Dofollow link means it allows the search engine spiders to follow the link and pass on some of it’s page rank (PR) to the following site. While a Nofollow link tells the search engine spider to not follow it and passes no pagerank to the following site.
If you are trying to build backlinks for your sites and blogs, then you want to be looking for dofollow links. But if you don’t want to pass on any page rank, link love or have the spiders follow a link to other sites, then make your outgoing links nofollow.
So how can you tell the difference?
I installed a handy Firefox Add-on about a year ago and I use it everyday. It allows me to instantly see the page rank, Alexa and Compete stats and much more. Plus it will highlight Nofollow links for you, very handy. You will be able to instantly see the stats and information on any website you are viewing.
Another toolbar I use and have it placed right next to the Firefox add-on is the Alexa toolbar. That way I can see a websites Alexa rating instantly and find out more information about a site with just a few clicks. Not only that, installing the Alexa toolbar yourself on your own computer will also help lower your Alexa rating for your own sites and blogs.
Both the Firefox Add-on and Alexa toolbar are FREE to download and install. Plus you can pretty much position them wherever you want them to be on your screen. I have mine right next to each other on the bottom right of my screen.
If you aren’t using these very helpful add-ons or toolbars already, you might want to give them a try. They save me a lot of time and let me see the stats and information on any site almost instantly.
