What to Write About in a Blog – How to Create Killer Content

One of the first questions a new blogger asks is, what to write about in a blog? I had the same question when I was a beginner, and it’s actually one of the reasons that kept me from creating a blog in the first place. I want to share some ideas and tips on how to create killer content for your blog or website, that have helped me.

What knowledge do you possess and what can you leverage right now?

When you are first starting out, you should think of your skills, (writing it down would be even better) hobbies, passions, connections and knowledge that you already have that you can leverage for your blogs content. This will give you ideas on what you could or may want to write about for a blog. The more you know about something, will allow you to be more credible when you are writing your content about your chosen topic. This will allow you to look like an expert right off the bat, without having to do to much research first. However, choosing something you are interested in but don’t know to much about can work too. Maybe you have sources and connections that can teach you more about your topic and give you insight.

I just wanted to add, most successful bloggers online started off writing about something they have a passion for. It’s pretty easy to get burned out really quickly if you are just trying to make some quick money online. Blogging and making money from a blog can be a lot harder than it looks.

It doesn’t really matter if you can write or not. The more you practice (what better way than by writing in your own blog) and the more you read, the better you’ll become. I totally sucked when I first started blogging, just read some of my first posts on this blog. The more I blogged and read other blogs, I now actually produce some decent content.

Choose one niche or topic

If you don’t have experience as a blogger, then starting your blog off in one niche or topic would be best. Once you’ve narrowed it down to a small list of things you are either interested in or already have knowledge about, it’s time to choose one for your blog. Staying within one topic will help you to get visitors that are interested in the same things and then you can start building a community for your blog. Your blog should also show up in the search engines faster for keywords related to your niche.

Make sure it is a niche or topic that will give you plenty to write about and expand. For instance, this blog “mathewday.com” is about internet marketing and ways to make money online. There are a ton of things for me to write about, all the way to blogging to affiliate marketing.

Unless you purposely want to make a small targeted niche blog with maybe only a few pages for one specific thing. You could also create a personal blog, where it’s more like your journal of rants, opinions and thoughts.

Your first blog posts should include…

You need to remember you are writing for other people, not yourself. Create ORIGINAL and VALUE in your content that others would want to read and share. In your writing, make the person feel as though you are talking to them or like your telling a story. You want to affect your readers in some way through your writing, inspire, help, humor, teach, vent and share your personal experiences. Let them get to know the real you and your personality. Being creative and doing something totally different or in a different way, will get you attention and traffic. Think outside the box.

When you are first beginning your blog, you should begin by adding content that explains what your blog is about. Start adding structure to your blog, you need to build the foundation with Pillar Articles. This would include longer posts that outline your expertise or research for a specific topic. The content should be timeless, informational, factual, and attract other bloggers to link to you as a reference.

If you want to be successful with your blog, you need to take ownership and act as if you are an expert in your field. Do whatever it takes to get there, research, network, learn, experiment, until you have the confidence to become an authority figure in your niche. Now it’s time to put in the work….

Motivation is going to eventually be the #1 factor on whether you continue to add content to your blog regularly and whether you reach success with your blog. I found what works for me is to write down a list of achievable goals you want to reach and when you want to reach them by. Also, write down things that motivate you or why you do anything in Life. It could be for your family, yourself, God, your kids, just to be the best dam blogger in the entire world, or etc….

It also matters on the type of blog or niche you choose to write about. For instance, if it’s a humorous blog, then starting with funny posts right off the bat would be ok.

Ideas to Create Killer Content

  1. Write informational and helpful posts about your topic.
  2. a tutorial on how to do something
  3. a factual post about your niche, include references
  4. throw in some humorous posts once in awhile
  5. Start a little controversy by disagreeing with something a expert wrote about in your niche and sharing your view point on the matter.
  6. Case Study showing what you did, how you did it and what the results were.
  7. Add something personal about you, anything, it’s your birthday, your kids, latest event you went to, etc…..
  8. debunk a myth on your topic
  9. compiled list of several resources and references on just one thing pertaining to your niche
  10. a list of resources, explaining a little about each one
  11. list of helpful references and links
  12. list of helpful ideas, tips and tricks
  13. the latest buzz in your niche
  14. you can do a review on just about anything
  15. product or service review
  16. something you just learned
  17. sharing your expertise
  18. giving your opinion or looking at something at a different angle and sharing  your thoughts
  19. look at your competition and see what they are writing about, good way to get ideas
  20. write posts for the beginners
  21. write posts for the experienced
  22. share your latest experiment or experience
  23. compile a post with links to your best articles
  24. write about your failures or what not to do
  25. a post that inspires your readers
  26. answer a question from one of your readers
  27. link baits – posts specifically made for getting backlinks to your blog
  28. do extensive research on just one particular thing and write about what you learned and found, include references
  29. write about your success and how you achieved it
  30. Allow others to Guest Post on your blog
  31. an interview with an expert or authority figure in your niche
  32. answer a question someone would be looking for
  33. do a collection of posts from other bloggers all on the same topic with small descriptions and links to them
  34. latest current events for your niche
  35. compare two or more things together and show their likenesses and differences

Don’t forget to add some video and images to your blog too.

Include Keywords and SEO

While writing your content for your blog, make sure you are implementing the correct on site SEO, adding keywords to your titles and throughout your content. Go here if you have no idea what I’m talking about, learn how to get traffic to your blog for FREE and about SEO.

How often should I write?

Just about everyone has a different opinion on this matter. However, I’ve learned that the search engines, like Google, will start to love and visit your blog more often if you post regularly and often. I don’t think posting daily is necessary but if you can keep up with it, then do it. I suggest adding a new post at least once every few days and then sticking to that routine.

I hope this article helps and gives you ideas on what to write about in a blog. What are some things or ideas that help you to create Killer content?

8 Plugins to Transform WordPress into an Ecommerce Store

This is a Guest Post written by Tom Walker, learn more about him below.

Ecommerce is an attractive way to do business, but the cost of entry can be prohibitive for small businesses and individuals who want to sell online. For this group of people there may be hope: ecommerce plugins are available that take the free open source WordPress blogging and content management system platform and convert it into a platform for online sales. Here are 8 plugins that transform WordPress into an ecommerce store!

1. Quick Shop: this plugin supports any WordPress installation that has sidebar widgets enabled. This is, in fact, a sidebar widget that displays the contents of the shopping cart and comes with a tool that allows you to add products to your blog posts. Quick Shop uses TinyMCE for inventory control and product listings. It integrates with the CFormsII API so it is easily customizable. Formatting for the Quick Shop add-in is governed by settings within the WordPress administration dashboard.

2. YAL Shopping Cart: for a simple shopping cart, YAK is quite a powerful solution. When plugged into WordPress, YAK associates merchandise with a blog post. In fact, the number of the post is what YAK uses for the code for each item. Customers can then browse through the available products, add them to the customizable shopping card, and check out. The admin login screen has a page for order management and processing, another for managing products, and another for reporting.

3. WP e-Commerce: this powerful addon for WordPress allows users to sell tangible products, digital downloads, and even services through the blogging platform. This free plugin integrates with PayPal, Google Checkout, and Payment Express to make payment processing painless. It also includes marketing tools that integrate with Facebook and email to help promote your store. You can use your own code to customize WP-e-Commerce and use built-in themes to make your WordPress store unique. Also, a premium version of WP eCommerce is available, so you can add even more features as your online business grows.

4. PHPurchase: if you need to offer options for products that affect price, PHPurchase may be the solution for you. You define the product variations available and the way they impact the item’s cost. You can also add custom fields for each item for sale to accept special details such as names for engraving and other information that you need to make sales of your products smooth and customer friendly. This flexibility comes with other strong features like an order management interface, store promotions, and shipping options. PHPurchase sells for $49 for a single site license. Other licensing options are also available.

5. Ecommerce Theme: for a fully functional store that works with WordPress out of box, Ecommerce Theme is a strong option. With this plugin installed, you can feature products on your site’s homepage, and have full control over the number and manner your products are displayed. Full search engine optimization options combine with powerful store management features to make this low cost WordPress store something to consider when you decide to sell online. This WordPress ecommerce platform sells for $79.95.

Tips for Choosing Your Brand Name and Domain for your site

Choosing a brand name

Now since you have chosen your blog topic, it’s time to choose a brand name, and then get a domain for your blog.

I’m sure you already know what a brand name is so I’m not going to elaborate on this to much. Just keep in mind this is what you’ll use for everything you do online. This is what will distinguish you from everyone else, and what you’ll use to represent yourself whenever networking like on social media sites, forums and blog comments.

You basically have 2 choices for choosing a brand name.

1. You can either choose to use a brand name that’s more universal. This is in case you decide to expand your online business one day, and include other sites, and maybe even your own products and services. Your brand name will represent your business no matter what that might include, blogs, sites, services or products. So, this means you don’t need to necessarily choose a brand name right now. You can just pick a domain name that will be relevant to your blog’s niche (topic) instead, and decide on a brand name later on.

2. The more simpler way. You just want to start blogging and see where it goes from there. If you go this route, then you would usually choose a domain name that has the exact words of your brand name. So make sure your brand name is relevant to your blog’s topic. Let’s say your blog is about blogging tips, and your brand name is “the coolest bloggers ever”, then your domain would be, “thecoolestbloggersever.com. Your brand name will represent you and your blog.

Example: I wanted a universal brand name, and chose “Mathewday” my actual name. But I messed up. My company name is the same, “mathewday” and so is my blog’s domain name. Now in hindsight, this brand name is boring and doesn’t explain anything about my niche, so I wished I chose a better brand name. Also, using “mathewday” for my blog’s domain name doesn’t help me out at all either.

I should’ve chosen a domain name that is more relevant to the “make money” or “internet marketing” niche. Another reason to not use your own personal name as your domain name for your blog is just in case you sell it one day. No one wants to buy a blog that has a domain name the same as your own. It’s to personal to you and you only. A blog domain name that is more relevant to your niche will be more appealing to buyers and get you more money.

How to choose a good domain name for your blog

A domain name is simply the url of your blog. Like for this blog it’s mathewday.com.

Now if you want to use your brand name in your domain that’s fine, but you should’ve picked a brand name that is relevant to your blog.

The other way to choose a domain name is by including the exact keywords that are relevant to your blog, but also are popular search words (actual words people type in when they Google something).

Use this free keyword tool from Google. Make sure you only have the exact search clicked on the left once you get there.

Type in your blog’s topic (niche). If you’re blog is about “duck hunting”, then type in duck hunting.

You’ll get a whole list of similar words and the amount of searches per month. The amount of searches mean the number of people who type in those exact words into Google each month. This let’s you know exactly what people are searching for and the exact words they are typing in to find it. You want at least a few thousand searches per month for whatever keywords you’re blog topic is on.

What can you do with this information?

If you choose a domain name with the words people are searching for this tells the search engines that your blog is about this topic, and thus helps your blog get on the front page of Google a lot easier and quicker.

Let’s use the blog topic “duck hunting” again. If you chose a domain name “duckhunting.com, chances are you’ll land on the front page of Google very easily. So whenever someone types in “duck hunting” you’re site would pop up as a search result. But, “duckhunting.com” is probably already taken and that’s why you should look at the other similar words too.

As long as your domain name has words that are relevant to “duck hunting” in it (if you’re blog is about duck hunting) then you’ll be fine. But exact keyword matches in you’re domain are the most powerful, but they are usually taken.

>>> Start jotting down ideas for your domain name, and we’ll soon be checking them to see if the domains are available.

Here are some more domain name tips.

It usually goes like this, the shorter, more catchier and relevant your domain name, the better. If you are choosing a domain for your brand or business, then you will want the exact name in your domain. Other than that, then you will want to choose the most relevant domain for your website or blog. It’s best if you can choose a domain name that explains what your site is about. Like for my landing pages and mini sites, I like having the name of the product or service in my domain url.

Does .com .net .org or .gov really matter?

Yes, .com domains are the most popular and the most powerful for regular blogs and sites. Get this first if available. .net are similar, but not as popular. .org is usually for nonprofit organizations. .edu is used for educational sites. .gov is used for government sites. and .biz is for businesses.

However, you can basically use any of them if you really wanted to for whatever you want. I always get the .com first and if not available I will grab some .orgs or .nets. Also, if you own a business, a brand name you want to keep to yourself, or want to go all out with you’re blog’s domain name, then I would scoop up as many as you can. The .com .net .org .biz all of them with you’re exact name that you want to protect, and keep from anyone else getting it in the future.

Does the format of your domain name matter?

Yes, as in format I mean this “www.makemoneyexample.com” to this “www.make-money-example.com”. A domain with NO hyphens is best, but if they are all taken up I have grabbed a few of them in the past, not so much anymore. I’ve learned domains with hyphens in it is unprofessional and are just low quality. Surprisingly they still do well in the search engines.

What’s the best domain for SEO?

This again would be the name that is most relevant to your site with the least amount of hyphens. What I do is look at all the popular relevant keywords for my new site and choose a domain name from that list. If you have your main keywords in your domain name, you’ll be able to rank easier for the keywords. Sometimes you’ll get lucky and be on the front page of Google before you even get content on it.

I’ve learned that Google looks at domain names to partially figure out what the website is about, this also will factor in how important it is and where it should be placed in the search engine results pages (serps). I’ve had this happen to me only a few times. I bought the domain and registered it. As soon as my dns was changed over, my site was already on the first page of Google for competitive keywords.

Now, you should have your brand name, or if you decided to choose that later on that’s cool too. But at least have some ideas for the domain name of your blog. It’s time to check your domain ideas to see what’s available and get your hosting. See you on the next post.

FYI: I am only guiding you step by step on how to get your domain and hosting thru one company and that is Hostgator. I explain why in next post. But they are the company I’ve been using and the only company I recommend.

How to Easily Create a WordPress Blog with Hostgator

Here’s a post on how to create a WordPress blog with hostgator hosting, easily. I wanted to show how simple and easy it really is to have your very own professional looking blog in a short amount of time. I had just setup another blog the other day, which only took me a few minutes, and I was thinking about how intimidated and confused I was when I first tried making my own blog. Most beginners don’t realize how simple and quick it really is to setup your very own blog or website using hostgator and wordpress.

Why Not use a FREE hosted blog?

Yes, there are several places to create a FREE hosted blog, but there are several disadvantages of not having your very own “self hosted blog” on your own domain name. With a FREE Hosted blog, you are sharing their hosting and domain name. That means they can have complete control over your blog, so making money from it will be tough, or not even allowed. You won’t have a control panel for you to have complete access over your sites or be able to see all your stats. It’s very unprofessional, it could get taken down at any moment, and many won’t take your website seriously. Make sure you consider these things if you are planning on creating a online business, or making real money from your blog down the road. A “FREE hosted blog” url will look like this, mathewday.blogger.com instead of www.mathewday.com.

Having your own “self hosted blog” means getting your own domain and hosting plan, which if you use the coupon code below, you can get started for only 1 cent today! There’s endless opportunities and reasons to have your own domain and hosting plan. You’ll be in full control, the owner, empowering, a wise investment, and there’s multiple ways for you to monetize your own sites and blogs.

The basic 3 things that you will need to create your own blog are, a domain name, hosting plan, and a blog platform. A domain name is the url like for my blog it’s mathewday.com. Hosting is where your blog is being stored at and allows the public to see it on the internet. Blogging platform will allow you to design, build and add content to your blog easily and quickly.

Why use WordPress (WP) the #1 blog platform?

WordPress is the simplest and fastest way for anyone to create professional looking blogs or websites with the least amount of effort. WordPress.org is for “self hosted blogs” only, which means you’ll need to get your own hosting and domain first. Don’t worry, I have listed the exact steps you need to take below, which is a very quick and simple process. WordPress is the #1 blogging platform used by newbies and the Top Professional Bloggers alike. You don’t need to know any coding, programming or be a designer to have a awesome looking blog. WP uses plugins, which allow you to add just about anything to your blog without messing with the coding. Changing your theme, design, or layout, can easily be done with point and click. Oh yeah, WordPress is 100% FREE, all you need is your own domain and hosting plan.

Why Hostgator (HG)?

Hostgator is the #1 hosting company with millions of domains being hosted. They’ve received numerous awards and is the most dependable company I’ve ever used. You can host unlimited websites on one hosting account. WordPress can be installed with just a few clicks using HG, and this is the hosting I use as well. I changed over to Host gator a few years ago when I started having problems with my old hosting company and I couldn’t ever get in touch with their customer service. Everyone was telling me to changeover to hostgator, especially for WP blogs. Their customer service is intelligent and the BEST I’ve ever dealt with.  They have 24/7 live support, or you can contact them by email and phone. They make everything very easy for beginners with all their tutorials, forum and their easy to use Cpanel- it’s where you’ll be able to have full control over your websites or blogs. Very inexpensive pricing and features that can’t be beat. With prices starting at only $5 dollars a month, but I’ve got some coupon codes and discounts for you to use below.

Steps to Create your WordPress blog with Hostgator

First off, if you don’t have your own hosting or want to transfer from your old host to HostGator then Click Here first and get a HG account. You’ll have to choose a domain name for your hosting account if this is your first one with them. Choose a domain name that either will be the name for your blog, brand name for your business or you can choose to just use your own name, like I did for this blog. One of my hosting accounts with HG is under this domain name “mathewday.com” but I have like 20 other domain names under this one hosting account. I suggest you get at least the Baby Plan which allows you to add unlimited websites or domains, plus all the other extras like, free transfers, FREE templates, site builder and much more. Choose whatever plan that best suits your needs.

I know of 2 Legit Hostgator discounts or coupon codes that still work currently. The first coupon code will be added automatically when you choose a plan and it takes off 20% from your entire hosting purchase. Choose a plan and look on the lower part of the site, see the code? You’ll only get the 20% off one time, so you might want to pay for more than 1 month. The other discount takes off $9.94 from your hosting plan purchase, enter coupon code mathewday1 at checkout, which will allow you to get hosting for your first month for only 1 cent.

Now, for those of you who just opened a new account with HG it’s going to take a little time for your domain name servers (dns) to propagate properly before you can see your site/blog online. Also, you’ll get a email with details on how to get into your Cpanel (control panel). This shouldn’t take to long and if you have any questions about it just talk to your HG support and they’ll let you know the status.

How to install WordPress on hostgator

Once you have access, log into your cpanel for your HG hosting, scroll down and click on the Fantistico De Luxe icon in the software/services section.

Now, once your in, look on the left hand side and you’ll see all the different scripts you can install onto your domain. Click the wordpress link, then click on the new installation link and now choose what domain name you want to install wordpress onto. Fill out “Admin access data”, this is what you’ll need to access your WP dashboard, so remember this name and password. Fill out the “Base configuration” with the name you want shown for your posts that you write, email address and your website’s domain name for your blog. Click install if everything looks correct and then enter a email for them to send this information so you’ll have it just in case you need it in the future. Now you’re done and just installed WP on your new domain.

After you’ve installed WordPress onto your domain name, enter the domain name into your address bar and checkout your new WordPress blog.   Now look for the “Meta” section on the right sidebar and “login” to your WP blog. This is where you’ll be able to get into your WP dashboard and add content, change things around and change your theme/template with just a few clicks. Enter the admin nickname and password you previously created when you were installing wordpress onto this domain.

Once you are in your WP dashboard scroll down and look on the left for the section that says appearance. Now just click on “add new themes” and you’ll be able to find new themes or layouts and install them with a few clicks. Or go to this site for WordPress-themes-review.com to checkout some of the popular themes available.

How to install WordPress if you already have hostgator hosting, but added another domain

This is the same steps you would take if you already had hostgator hosting and just added a domain to your hosting account. If you purchase another domain name with hostgator, remember to first change the dns for the domain to your hostgator servers after purchasing, and do a addon domain in your cpanel. After you do those two things, then you can add wordpress onto it just like above.

Now all you need to do is add content, SEO, and work on getting traffic to your blog. I know you’ll be happy with hostgator hosting and with wordpress. Honestly I barely have made any money online with my FREE hosted blogs, but once I got my own domains and used wordpress, I’ve created a real online business and do this full time now. I hope my tutorial on how to create a wordpress blog with hostgator was helpful and not to hard to follow. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment, and please share this post with any others who it may help.

Make Money Blogging – FREE Guide to Blogging Success

Have you read the Make Money Blogging Ebook from Daniel Scocco yet? I just recently had the chance to read his FREE blogging guide, and here’s my review on it.

Here’s a little info first, about Daniel Scocco. He is the creator of “Daily Blog Tips“, one of the Most Authoritative Blogs on the internet about blogging, which I’ve been a daily reader for a good while now. His blog has fresh new content daily, which is always high quality and very valuable to people who are new to blogging and even for the very experienced.

I’ll be honest with you, even though I’ve been a loyal reader to his blog “Daily Blog Tips” for a good while, I never read his ebook before. I really never thought I would get much out of it since I already have a little experience in blogging, so I finally read it one day, since it’s FREE anyways and I wouldn’t be losing anything from reading it.

I was pleasantly surprised on how thorough and helpful the Make Money Blogging guide was to me. I had gotten some new tips and learned more about a few things that I was unsure of. For instance, many of the ways of getting traffic and exposure to your new or already existing blog was very helpful. Also, some of his tips on what to write about were just awesome and gave me the insight on how the Expert bloggers come up with some of their brilliant posts.

A lot of the information is coming from his own experience, I could just tell, so you don’t have to second guess on what to do or what’s the best thing to do. I am already implementing many of the new things I’ve learned from the Make Money Blogging ebook and already having good results.

The Make Money Blogging ebook is a 100% FREE instant download. All you have to do is sign-up for his newsletter, which is always packed with great original content that truly has helped me in my quest to become a better blogger.

The Make Money Blogging guide contains over 50 pages of valuable information and is broken up into 5 chapters. It covers everything from starting your blog off with the right foundation and structure. To tips and methods on how to make your blog successful online. You’ll learn the best ways to create a blog, what to write about, how to get traffic, networking, and how/when to monetize your blog. He even teaches you common mistakes you should avoid when starting your blog.

WhyDoWork – Cool Adsense Plugin for WordPress

I just recently heard about the Why-Do-Work Adsense Plugin for WordPress. It’s not a new WP plugin by any means, it’s been out for a good while now. I had found out about the WhyDoWork WP plugin because several established bloggers I know have been trying it out lately, and have reported they have Greatly Increased their Adsense Revenue with it. There are many cool features that aren’t available on many of the other Adsense plugins, so I changed over to this one as well. This is a totally FREE plugin by the way.

What I like about the WhyDoWork Plugin

With this plugin, you can add Adsense adds on your WP blog with just a few clicks, without having to modify your template. Big Deal right, that’s what they all do. Here’s where it starts getting better. You can pick and choose where you Don’t want your adds to show up too, just enter the post ID or just use their no-adsense tag.

It’s gets even better, choose X amount of days you want adds to show up on certain posts. Choose 15 days and your adsense adds will only show up on your posts that are at least 15 days old, only. A ton of different variations are available through this feature. The best part of this option allows you to not directly affect any of your loyal readers with the adds, but will show the adds to traffic coming to your older posts, great for search engine traffic.

The Why-Do-Work Adsense Plugin took little time to set-up, and I’ve seen no problems with it so far. I’ve already seen a little increase of clicks with my adds, and it should definitely help me make more money with adsense as soon as I am more established, and get more search traffic. I was just content with my regular adsense plugin, but this one just has some really cool features. It’s totally FREE, so why not give it a try.

4 Key Ways to Become a Successful Blogger

I am a self taught Internet Marketer for nearly 2 years now, who started blogging a little over half a year ago. There are many reasons why I chose to and why you should start a blog if you haven’t already, but I’m not going to get into that in this post. Through trial and error, research and observation. I now know there are only “4 key ways to become a successful blogger” or make a blog successful. Especially now, with the new flood of wannabe Pro Bloggers and people who want their share of the cash cow that blogging has created.

4 Ways to Have a Successful Blog

1. Valuable Content – Your blog contains content that is helpful, unique, has value and over delivers with information about the topics you write about. It could also have really great and valuable videos or pictures.

It took a little while for me to finally catch on to this concept. You see, when I first started blogging I use to spread news and blog about things all the Big Blogs were blogging about as it happened. If you’re new to blogging and have a new blog, you’re not going to be able to compete with the accomplished blogs with huge lists of followers and authority.

Why would people come to my blog if I’m writing about the same things other people are or even if I’m changing it up a little with my own opinions? There still no reason for them to recommend or ever come back to my blog. You gotta give people something different, original, informational, helpful and eye popping content that is different than everyone else.

2. Awesome SEO – Your blog is successful because you get huge amounts of traffic from the SERP’S or search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing.

I keep track of many different groups of keywords, but one of my main groups of keywords I watch carefully is the “Make Money Online” keywords. Many times I checkout the sites and blogs that are on the front pages of Google for Mega Keywords like “make money” which is searched in the millions per mth. Think of the traffic you would get if you had a blog on the front page of some keywords like that. Yeah, I know it would be nice.

Anyways, some of the blogs that are on the front pages for mega keywords are some of the cheesiest sites that I’ve ever seen. Even the design, functionality and content of their blogs suck. After reading a few posts I can tell right off the bat that they really have no clue on what they are talking about. So how did they get on the front page of Google then? They have hired a SEO team or they used proper seo techniques and gotten themselves on the front of the serp’s probably over a long period of time.

3. Big Name or Big Brand – It’s pretty simple, you already are a Huge well known Brand Name or you are already a well known famous person and you start a blog.

The chances are it’s not  going to take you to long to get traffic to your blog and become successful. Many people who have a huge audience and authority in another field start blogging because they know or hope that they can expand their already big name or business into the blogging world.

Many of the Big Time Bloggers like “Problogger” have worked their butts off and used their skills, experience and intelligence to create a Huge Brand Name. It’s pretty safe to say, anything “Problogger” touches or endorses will be successful.

4. Tons of Exposure – I’ve seen other groups of blogs that do well and primarily are successful because they are forever promoting and marketing the heck out of their blog and name. Any chance they get they promote. Whether it be blog commenting, to putting their name out on articles and on other sites. They promote all the time for more exposure.

I don’t know about you but the type of blogs I like reading have original and unique content that helps me become a better blogger and person. All the three other reasons I listed have really no affect on me as in returning to their blog other than for networking purposes. I now know that’s what I need to do with my blogs in order for me to reach my goals and to get the exposure that I want to get.

If you want to actually be a successful blogger and I’m talking like “six figures a year” then you better be doing one or all of the 4 ways of becoming a successful blogger above…. or you just have Mad Skills that not even I can comprehend. What are your thoughts on this post or does anyone have anything to add?

Make Money Online Without Selling Anything

I’ve had this idea for a long time actually for creating websites and blogs aimed at people who don’t or can’t make purchases online. You probably know who I’m talking about, the very conservative who still don’t trust putting their credit card number into any computer, the seniors who think there’s no use for the internet (let alone make a purchase online) and of course you can’t forget about the kids. Now what kind of site or blog am I talking about?

ABA Bank - Credit Card

I am talking about sites or blogs specifically made for making money online from CPA – click per acquisition or action, CPC – cost per click, CPM – click per Mille, or 1,000 impressions and you make money by amount of impressions. They won’t have to make any purchases and it’s a great demographic for making money online just from clicks and impressions.

I know this isn’t a new concept or anything, but the whole reason I started thinking of creating sites for this was because I have a ton of family members/friends and I spend a lot of time with kids. I have a daughter, a ton of neices, nephews…..so I’ve seen there uses and skills on the computer, they blow me away sometimes.

In fact, some of them are constantly on their little netbooks and clicking on adds all day and night. One night I was thinking to myself, wow the sites aimed at youngsters make a killing from ads getting clicked on because a lot of it has to do with there age and knowledge. Older and more computer savvy adults click adds a lot less than a youngster who sees, let’s say Google Adsense adds all over.

Now we have the groups of seniors who still think the internet is useless to them or “evil”, but their age group is immensely growing every year for being online and the adults who still don’t trust purchasing anything online. Now these type of sites mentioned above work well for them as well for making money on the internet because they don’t mind clicking on helpful adds. Here was a interesting read about seniors online habits I read on Mashable.

Here are the three types of ad networks that work well for sites made for making some extra money from these demographics I’ve been talking about in this post.

CPA – click per acquisition or action, usually you need to just give the company a lead and they handle the rest and you make money.

CPC – cost per click, Here’s some of the popular one’s you might want to checkout to make money from clicks.

CPM – cost per milli or 1000 impressions, make money from impressions.

A training program that you may be interested in that I am going to be joining very soon just so I can use the tools they provide is Blog Success. I was reading a section in their program the other day that actually taught you how to make blogs similar to this just spending minutes a day aimed at these type of demographics using some of their exclusive tools such as Utility Poster.

My suggestions for making a site or blog aimed at these demographics: children, seniors and adults who don’t make purchases online is to think like them, ask them what kind of sites they like and look at examples online for these kind of sites. For instance for kids, think games, cartoons etc….  Also think of things they look up online whether for information or entertainment. Always remember to blend your adds and experiment. UGRKV75VJWG4

Blog Comment Demon Review ~ Dofollow Backlink Finder

blogcomment-demonOne thing Internet Marketers and Webmasters have in common is the Never Ending Quest to Improve our Search Engine Ranking, commonly known as SEO (search engine optimization).  You gotta get relevant backlinks to get on the front page of Google and to increase our Page Rank (PR).

If You Fail at this then you’ll probably never get enough traffic to make any “REAL Money Online”.

I started using Blog Comment Demon (BCD) – a True Dofollow Backlink Finder awhile back and recommended it to some people and they have been very happy with the results from it.  I decided to make a small post about it to let others know that this is one inexpensive backlink tool that may be worth investing in.

Blog Commenting is FREE and one of the easiest ways to get Powerful and Relevant one way links to your website or blog. Which can help skyrocket your blogs or sites to the top of the (serps). It’s also a great way to index a new website.

But there’s one problem,  when I first got into blog commenting all of the (so called) dofollow blogs lists were all wrong and most of them were actually “nofollow”.  Make sure you check dofollow lists with appropriate tools to see if they are in fact do follow, I’ve found that most people make these lists just to get traffic but they have no idea if they are in fact “no follow” or not.

Even if you are a more experienced webmaster and have all your must have tools installed (firefox toolbar extensions & Alexa Toolbar) it’s still very hard to make a nice list of Dofollow blogs, especially one’s that are relevant to your sites and have good PR.

That was until I found the ultimate do follow backlink finder, Blog comment demon.  All you pretty much have to do is enter your keywords and hit enter, it does the rest all automated.

Adding a comment is a cinch and all done inside the BCD dashboard.

Click here and Watch This Free Blog Comment Video it really does show the Full Potential this software has.

Benefits of BlogCommentDemon:

  • Get Unlimited amount of dofollow backlinks
  • Find relevant blogs to your niche
  • Find relevant posts
  • See pagerank for the Homepage and for the actual Post Page
  • Money back guarantee
  • Awesome Customer Support
  • A ton of features which makes it very easy to use
  • Save campaigns and files to easily use again in the future
  • Find blogs on Auto-Pilot
  • Complete step by step video tutorials
  • Save time and money
  • Great for getting New sites Indexed Quickly
  • Lifetime updates

Let me just say, I’ve read some of the reviews on the internet on this back link software and most of them are bogus.  Most of the negative one’s are made up or complain that it takes a little while to find blogs.  I’ll tell you now that setting it up takes a little time but was simple with their step by step tutorials.  I loved the videos, very easy to follow and implement.  I have no complaints with there customer service either, which I took full advantage of.

Now, when BCD is looking for blogs/posts for you on auto pilot it may take a little while but just work on something else.  Just save everything easily using their dashboard and you’ll be able to pull up the blogs whenever you want to, instantly.  You won’t have to go through the whole process over again unless you are searching for More.

One of my favorite things I use this software for is to find those old and powerful blog posts with good PR that no one else knows about.

You’ll be able to find those coveted domains like .edu, .gov and .org sites.

Here’s my receipt for my purchase a few months ago.  I tend to not believe internet marketers unless I know them or they show actual Proof.  I’m sure you’re the same way.
