2 Must Have Blogging eBooks – November Discount Code
I recently was told about a really great discount code good for two very popular ebooks, 31 Days to Build a Better Blog and The Copywriting Scorecard for Bloggers. Both of these ebooks are from Darren Rowse (commonly known as the #1 blogger in the world) or better known as Problogger.
The Discount code will expire on November 30, so don’t delay on getting your copies. It would make a great gift!
I have already purchased the 31 days to build a better blog ebook awhile ago and it’s worth every penny. It had a lot of great insight about how to produce great content and made me go through on a lot of things that I didn’t know about or would’ve never done on my own. I plan on getting the Copywriting Scorecard for bloggers since I’ve heard so many good things about it, and of course the discount is a nice incentive.
Before I talk about the 2 ebooks, I wanted to say a few things about Darren. He is a very modest person and has a passion for helping people succeed in blogging. He’s different than the other guru’s online. (just read his blog and you’ll see) Darren probably could sell his products for incredibly high prices and they would still sell like hotcakes, but he doesn’t. They are all very moderately priced so more people can afford them and succeed in blogging.
The Discount code good for either one of Problogger’s ebooks or for both, is pretty exclusive. I had received an email from him about it. You won’t find this on his blog, just follow the instructions below to get the discount!

13 Ways to Get a New Blog Noticed – Even if Your Unknown
With millions of blogs on the internet and thousands more popping up daily, a new blogger may think how to get your blog noticed, especially if you’re totally unknown. Without getting traffic to your blog, then it pretty much defeats the purpose of having a blog in the first place. It can get really depressing, especially if your the type that puts a lot of effort and time into perfecting your blog posts, all to find out that no one even read it. That’s one of the main reasons why most bloggers don’t last more than a month or two and give up.
Instant gratification is what we are all looking for, yet with blogging, the experts say there’s no such thing. However, I’ve been noticing this isn’t exactly the case anymore.
Maybe you’ve seen some of them before and didn’t realize it, the new breed of bloggers popping into the scene. Let’s call them “Super Bloggers”. Most of them are youngsters, whatever the age, they are all new to blogging, yet know how to get their blog noticed very quickly. These new Super Bloggers are receiving more traffic and authority to their blogs within a few months time, than the average blogger will ever see in their life time. Most of them have these key things in common. I listed them for you below.
13 Ways to get a New Blog Noticed Quickly
1. Confidence – This is one of the key factors to be successful in anything, but don’t forget you gotta be confident even if you’re a new blogger. Don’t be hesitant about what you write about and how you blog, be committed and give 100% to everything you do. Everyone makes mistakes, the smart ones learn from them. It’s human nature for us to admire and follow people who are confident. Even though you’re a new blogger, be confident in what you write blog about, your readers will be able to sense it or the lack of it. It’s all in the head, you are whoever you think you are.
2. Guest Posting – You’ve probably heard about this a 100 times before, guest posting on an A-listers blog is the best way to get exposure, and could help make your career. You could get enough recognition and traffic to crash your servers. Leveraging the immense traffic from a famous blog is just plain smart. Then again, if you have a lousy blog and or content, it could backfire.
3. BIG Cajones (No fear) – This ties into 1 and 2 above. Many new bloggers think it should take a long time to buildup their status, authority and traffic. They let their fears tell them, they aren’t ready to guest post on “Problogger” yet, or I have no experience so I can’t blog about that, and etc.. Take risks and don’t be afraid to try something new and expanding your horizons. Doing things out of the ordinary could put you on the map. Don’t let you’re fears stop you from doing things that are out of you’re “comfort zone”.
4. Killer Titles – Just by using a good title in your articles, you can create a lot of buzz and attention to your blog posts. I’d say a Huge percentage don’t even read your entire posts, so just by having a killer title makes you look like you know what you’re talking about and makes them want to comeback to your blog.
5. Branding – Creating a brand name and Spreading it for everything you do online will get you and your blog noticed much quicker. Such as your domain name and your user names for everything like social media sites, forums, and etc… People will start noticing your brand name and will start associating you and your blog to it.
6. Blog Commenting – Being social and adding intelligent comments to blogs in your niche, especially the authoritative blogs will give you a ton of exposure and is a great way of getting your blog noticed by others in the same niche.
7. Follow the Experts – Gaining knowledge and insight from the top experts in your niche will bring you up to speed very quickly. This will help you to stay current and know what’s going on in the blogosphere. Associating yourself with the experts will help boost your credibility and authority almost instantly. Also, many of these new bloggers will get ideas of what to write about from the top blogs, even if it’s just rehashed information, they make it their own. This actually works really well and has you looking like an authority figure by the other bloggers.
8. Ambitious – If you are new to blogging, outworking everyone else and putting endless effort when starting out will get you noticed. Others will lookup to you, you’ll be an inspiration, and be reaping the rewards in a shorter amount of time. Most people don’t want to put in the work and effort, so you’ll pass right by all of them just by being ambitious, even if you lack in knowledge and experience. Be hungrier than everyone else.
9. Utilizing all forms of traffic – don’t just settle for one or a few good methods of getting traffic to your blog, utilize as many as you can. Article marketing, social media, press releases, communities like blog catalog, technorati, forums, directories, pinging and etc. will help make people notice your blog from many different sources.
10. Good attitude – This can make your outlook on what you’re doing a lot better, keep you from getting frustrated, help keep you motivated, will make others want to read what you write, and want to help spread your name for you. Being humble, yet confident and willing to help others out is going to go a long way, especially for long term. The key is to be approachable to everyone.
11. Holding a Contest – Just because you’re a new blogger doesn’t mean you can’t hold a killer contest. This will get mega attention and help blast your blog to another dimension. Others will help promote it via social networking and will keep people tuned into your blog.
12. Valuable Content – of course your content has to be pretty valuable and be beneficial or you’re wasting your time. Writing pillar posts, lists, tutorials and personal experiences about blogging, seem to create a lot of buzz for a new blog.
13. Good Design and Appearance – It starts by having your own domain name and web hosting plan. No one is going to take you seriously without it. Also, you’ll want a decent logo and a good design for your blog. With all of the resources at our fingertips online these days, anyone can do this on their own with little money, and without hiring someone.
It doesn’t take a lot of hard work and experience to get your blog noticed, like it use to back in the day. Work smarter and harder than everyone else and you’ll soon have an authoritative, successful blog that continues to grow. Checkout and follow any new successful blogger these days that just pops into the scene out of nowhere and you’ll see they share many of the same things I listed in this blog post.
Do You Backup Your WordPress Blog’s?
The other night I started freaking out because I went to my blog and there was no content on it whatsoever. All of my pages and posts were completely gone from my blog. Can you imagine losing your entire blog at any given second? Luckily, awhile back, I started backing up my blog. But I am definitely not a techie and had no idea if I would be able to restore it, or what even had happened in the first place. Did someone hack into my blog, was it a new plugin I added or did I screw up the coding?
I did get just about everything restored on my blog, except for some of the comments. If you recently left a non-spamming comment and you don’t see it, then I didn’t erase it. I wasn’t able to restore it cause I have my WordPress database backup setup to save once per week.
Backup all of your Work…
I know it’s cliche, but the experts are right about backing up all of your work, especially your blogs and websites. We live in a unpredictable world and your sites could be hacked, or any number of things could happen to them at any given time. I was lucky because I was a little stubborn for the first year or so of internet marketing and I didn’t ever backup any of my work online. Until I had read an article about someone losing their entire blog they had spent a few years on. That scared me and I started Googling for the best way to backup my wordpress blogs.
How I backup my WordPress blogs…
It’s actually really easy to backup a wordpress blog. I installed the WordPress database backup plugin (WP-DB – Backup). This is a really easy plugin to use and has many functions on how and when you want your wordpress blogs backed up. I have mine set to email my backup to me once a week.
How to Restore your WordPress Blog easily…
Since I have very minimal tech skills, I thought it would be really difficult and take a lot of time for me to restore the content on my blog. I found this page Restoring your Database from Backup and followed their straight forward guide. All it took me was a couple minutes and everything was restored like nothing had happened. What’s really cool about restoring your WP blog this way is that even if someone did hack into your WordPress blog, you can restore it through your cpanel in your hosting and it will restore your old password, even if someone hacked into your WP blog and changed the password. Of course change the password once you get back in.
If you aren’t backing up your WordPress blogs and any other work you do online, then one day you could lose all of your hard work. I never thought it would happen to me but since it did, I’m so glad I started backing up my WP blogs. The process to backup and restore a WordPress blog is quick and simple, even for a non-techie like myself.
I Kicked My Own Self out of my Blog
Today is a good day, my internet has finally been cooperating and I can actually get some work done online. For over a week my internet connection has been going in and out every minute. I could only do short term work online, like networking and could do some offline stuff. Anyways, back to the subject of “can’t login to WP-Admin”.
This isn’t the most exciting post or anything, but just in case it happens to anyone else, I figured I’d write about what happened and how I fixed my WordPress login error.
I had created another mini niche blog not to long ago and I was playing around in the dashboard under the “general settings”. For some odd reason I changed my blog url in the “WordPress address” url spot and pushed save. The next thing I notice is I can’t login to the WP-Admin and I get an error message saying that url doesn’t exist. On top of that my actual site had no WP theme, it was just a bunch of content and images and basically I took WordPress off of the site entirely and didn’t know what to do. I had one of those “what the **** moments” or simply put, confused.
This is how I fixed it…
Of course I did some Googling and found this very helpful page http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL
All I needed to do was enter my cpanel, went into my file manager, found my blog and edited the “WP-config.php”. I only had to enter these two lines below and hit save.
- define(‘WP_HOME’,'http://enter yoursite here.com’);
- define(‘WP_SITEURL’,'http://enter yoursite here.com’);
There’s even a better way of doing this and it’s explained in the link I gave you above. If you ever find yourself in the same situation or can’t login to your WP-admin for your wordpress blog, then this may work for you.
In this post I’ve really showcased my technical and design capabilities by kicking myself out of my own blog, only kidding. I have no skills and that is one reason why I use WordPress. It is very easy for just about anyone to use and any technical problems are usually quite simple to resolve on your own.

Taking Long Breaks from Blogging
This is my first post on my blog for a good while and it’s good to get back to it. I’ve actually been doing more outsourcing, working on pay per click (PPC) campaigns, seo, cleaning out some clutter and getting organized. Oh yeah, I’ve also been doing a lot of vacationing and spending time with people I care about. I figured I would take a break from blogging for awhile just to clear my head and see what would happen.
Now, taking long breaks from blogging is always up for debate whether it’s a good or bad idea.
First off, if you’re a blogger, then you should be blogging about something you have a passion for so it should be relatively easy to continue blogging. Using MONEY as your motivator can work too, since I know many successful online marketers use that as their drive.
The Negatives-
Blogging and pushing out posts on a regular basis, consistently, helps in a couple ways. When I was posting every few days the search engine spiders would visit my blog a few times everyday, now they rarely visit or crawl my blog. My blog posts would appear in the serp’s almost instantly after I published them and I had many posts that were on the front page of the serp’s too, which I lost quickly once I stopped posting. Secondly, your readers will get accustomed to when you publish your posts so you’ll probably lose some readers and less traffic from referrals.
Many people will stop visiting your blog and you’re name and brand will be forgotten quite quickly. The internet is ever changing 24/7, if you take a long break then someone who is hungrier than you will take your place and never look back. You will have so much catch up when you get back into the game and back to your blog that you could lose everything you worked so hard and consistently on. Think about it, just about every Top Blogger stays consistent with their blogging, none of them take long overdrawn breaks.
You’re sales will decrease. I saw a dramatic decrease in my sales from this blog as soon as I stopped posting on a regular basis, probably from the reasons above.
The Positives-
Taking a long break is quite refreshing and can give you some new angles and ideas on what you want or need to do. Having a constant pressure to blog can burn you out so a break is needed or you may just quit entirely. It allows you to work on other things, learn new things and experiment. You can use the time to find other means of making money online such as ppc or ppv marketing.
It’s good to take a break from the pressures of the online world and “live life”. Enjoy some of the freedom that internet marketing allows you to have that the “9 to 5″ doesn’t give you.
Lastly, it is your blog, you decide what you want to do with it. But just remember, are you writing for yourself or for others?
All I can say is there are strong points for both sides of the coin but I didn’t start blogging just to get by. If you want to separate yourself from the rest of the pack then just start blogging consistently since not many can keep up with it for a long period of time.

Are Internet Marketing Experts Blogs Only After Your Money?
Do you ever get the feeling like some of the internet marketing guru’s blogs are only trying to make money from you? Some people believe that the value of many of these type of blogs has diminished and is being replaced with “money pages” and affiliate links. I am not talking about all of the experts or gurus. And I am talking about the blogs in the “make money online” or internet marketing niches.

Here’s what I’ve learned…
Most of these Top Internet marketing experts have been blogging for a long freakin time. Some of them were the original pioneers, especially for the “make money online” and “internet marketing” blogs. So seriously, they probably covered just about everything they could on their niche and then some in the first couple of years, and that leads to my next point.
Dig deep to find the good stuff-
I’ve read and continue to read most of the Top Internet Marketing Gurus blogs. But I like to dig deep into their archives or use their sitemaps to get to their older posts filled with some of their most valuable and insightful content. This is where you’ll find posts about case studies of their failures or success. Their best how to’s, lists, tips and tutorials, all before they were rich and famous. This is knowledge and information that you couldn’t even pay for or find in the best online money making programs. Just realize that some of the info maybe outdated, but most of it is timeless.
Learn by watching them-
If you got any experience as a internet marketer, then I’m sure you’ve learned to just watch what the experts do on their blogs and then implement it yourself. That in itself is worth thousands of dollars of coaching, for FREE.
I think most of these gurus blogs have become huge platforms for them to promote or influence a ton of people everyday. If you could write one post “money page” and make 1000′s of dollars from it in a couple days with little effort, you wouldn’t do it? Yet most of them still throw out a valuable post every now and then even though they’ve probably covered it before in someway in their blog already.
So no, I don’t think that most of the experts are only after our money. They’ve just had to evolve and have to be more cautious of what they write because of their HUGE audiences.
Now, I already mentioned I wasn’t talking about every successful blogging expert online in the “make money online” niches. Some of them still to this day continually give valuable, fresh and up to date relevant posts without a handful of affiliate links thrown in. But they are masters at what they do and know how to make a ton of money still without being so obvious to their visitors.
