I’m sure by now you have seen the little images with a picture of the author next to their site in the Google search results.
It looks something like this below. Yeah, my picture needs a retake. lol
I’m going to make this post short and sweet since this is pretty basic stuff, but thought a few of these references below could make it a bit easier.
What is Google Authorship?
It’s basically just connecting your Google Plus account to a website that you write for. It’s a way to personalize content to the actual author or person who wrote it.
Yes, you need a Google Plus account.
Then you need to link that account to your content.
After you have established Google authorship on you content, then you probably won’t see the results in the serps until a month or 2 later. At least that’s how long it took my blog.
And this is how you do that.
How to establish Google Authorship?
I originally did it to this blog a few months ago using a wp plugin, but today I noticed that all my searches removed my image and google authorship for the posts of this blog, so I did some researching to find out what happened.
First off, you don’t need a plugin, it’s unnecessary. It’s really simple to accomplish. And the reason my Google authorship was removed from my content was because I removed the author for all of my posts. Today if you look at my posts, now you see a by: mathew day, which I just put back onto my posts to require the Google authorship.
This page will help show you step-by-step on how to require Google authorship in simple instructions and straight from the horses mouth. lol

Why Should You Use Google Authorship on your content?
It personalizes your content so people can get to know and find you or your brand better.
Some people say it improves their click thru rate from Google.
I didn’t see any improvements in mine, but I also have a lame image.
The only way it helps with click thru’s or traffic from Google is if you’re already well known, or you have a crazy or interesting image that just makes people click more.
There you have it, now you know how to get Google Authorship in a jiffy. So, for those of you who have been putting this off, you seriously should consider adding Google authorship to all of your content since I’ve heard rumors that they are going to take this up a notch in the coming years.
